9.25.17: Beautiful Souls

Martorell continues to deliver! This week we have been so blessed with miracles every day. When you are looking for it, it is amazing how you can see the hand of the Lord in the everyday details of your life! We have been trying really hard to not only work hard, but to work smart-- we started praying when we do not know where to go/what to do and it has made a huge difference! We have been able to talk to so many more people and use our time more effectively. I know that this really is God's work and that the more we can submit our will to His, He will guide us.  One of the scriptures I love to share with people is Doctrine and Covenants  18:10.  I t says the "worth of souls is great in the sight of God." It is so simple, but so profound! Being a missionary I have been able to feel an added portion of the truly incomprehensible love that God has for every one of his children. I have been trying really hard to see everyone as God sees them and to be better at loving e...

9.18.17: BEST day of my life

Image
Ok, so today was the best day of my life! We went to a place called Tarragona, which is one of my comp's old areas, and it is ON THE BEACH! I think that was the longest I have EVER gone in my life without seeing the ocean. I didn't even realize how much I missed it until I saw it again. We ran on a trail on cliffs above the ocean to a light house, and I think I died of excitement! We are not allowed to go on sand in our mission; but I will take the cliffs. The Mediterranean is so blue and I think I am obsessed.  Although, it doesn't have waves, which is a major fault in my eyes. (Probably a good thing while I'm on a mission though!) The rest of this week was filled with some more classic adventures of getting lost :/ and talking to lots of people who commented on how bad my Spanish accent is... haha.  Still working on that one!  On  Friday, it rained ALL DAY and all of our citas fired so we were walking in the streets and we got soaked, hahaha...

9.11.17: Adventures

This week has been quite an adventure. Since I got a new companion last week, I am apparently supposed to be the one that knows where and when everything is.... Let's just say I have taken my new comp on some interesting new adventures, haha.  Yesterday we had to run to catch our train to come home--literally by the grace of God we made it just before the doors closed! If we had missed it we would have been an hour late getting home...which as missionaries is very frowned upon.  Hee hee, good thing God is looking out for us! Overall, my new companion is great. She is from Missouri, but has lived all over the US because her dad is in the military. She converted to the church when she lived in Utah for a few years and has a truly inspirational story of how she came to be on a mission. She is so sweet and has already taught me so much! And she is very patient with my general lack of knowledge (...lo siento!). We do not have very many investigators right now, but we are ...

9.5.17: Mariscos

Well I have officially made it through my first transfer! Hermana Harris has been transferred and my new companion is Hermana Martens. She is super sweet and is the only member in her family! I am excited to get to know her. Marten and Barton are taking on Martorell... the poor members are going to have such a hard time saying our last names! Usually we do not have a lot of eating citas  [dinner appointments] , but this week I ate paella for the first time. It is a typical Spanish food that is basically rice mixed with every kind of sea creature imaginable. It is cooked with all the shells mixed in, and usually you just pick them out because they are big, but little pieces break off and you end up crunching them in your teeth....  I have to say, I have eaten my fair share of sand, but this was my first time eating shells! Oh, I also ate one of those little octopus things and I could feel the tentacles in my mouth--let's just say it was a literal bl...
