9.24.18: Hay Que Aprovechar

Image
Well...this week has been a blast with my new companion, Hermana Bosiosi!  She is a QUEEN. One of my favorite things is teaching her random slang words in English, jajaja. She is going to have a stellar vocab by the time we are done! Today I taught her how to sing "California Girls" by Katy Perry, jajajaa. She also knows how to say "stoked", "rad", and "living the dream" now. ;)  Also, my new life motto is "hay que aprovechar"...not really sure how to translate that to English, but it's kind of like "take advantage of it" or "live it up" <-- just thought you all should know, jajaja. Today we walked around by the mar  [sea]  and made some friends who were fishing for octopus. Life is GOOD. Spiritual thought of the week...it's a quote I found from one of the apostles... "I went before [the Lord] and in essence said, ‘I’m not neutral, and You can do with me what You want. If You need my vot...

9.17.18: Viva Valencia

Image
Wow, well.... my comp, Hermana Rust is officially dead  [this must be an unsavory term for completing your mission (amy talking here)]  which is so weird! I feel like she just got here!! It's been a crazy week of rain and crazy thunder and lightening...my shoes have no tread left and all the streets are cobblestone so I have had some close calls, jajaja.  The miracle of the week is that Jimena, the woman that got baptized a few weeks ago, is going TO GO TO THE TEMPLE THIS WEEK!! AHHHHHH! I AM SO EXCITED FOR HER!! We are going to try to help her do her family history so she can take some names to the temple! Yayyya!! Wahhhh, I just adore her!!  Not much else to report this week except that someone asked me if I am pregnant...ummm jajaja nope, but thanks for asking. Ahhhhh that's a first. Que verguenza  [How embarrassing] ! It was so awkward, I was dying.  Ummm, adios!! My lifeeeeee! Then today, on the bus, it jerked forward and my head collided...

9.10.18: Sandia Suenos

Image
Ok, for reals I have eaten my weight in sandia  [watermelon]  this week and I could not be happier:). Valencia is the best! There are so many beautiful souls here! I just adore this city! Today my companion and I rented a tandem bike and got lost in Valencia...we ended up getting chased by some crazy dogs and also ended up on the side of the freeway somehow...whoops, jajaja! It's my companion's last preparation day before she goes home next week, so I was just trying to give her an unforgettable experience, sabes  [you know] ? Also, that is why I have no time to write once again... But I adore you all, and hope you are still living the dream <3 ~maddy

9.3.18: Life is BEAUTIFUL

Image
Wow, ok I have like .5 secs to write.  But I adore you ALL! I am so grateful for all of the thoughts and prayers!  This week has been a sweaty whirlwind of metros, eating more sandia  [watermelon]  than I can keep track of, random thunderstorms, African amigos  [friends] , and complete with getting locked in a big park at  9:30  at night with our investigator and having to jump a fence in a skirt (which for the record is not a good idea...jajaja). Life is just so good, I cannot even handle how BLESSED I am! Stay GOLD <3 Maddy Pic 1 and 2- Las Reinas  [The Queens] 3 and 4- Preparation Day ;) Pic 5- Took this right before we found out we were locked in the park, jaja. *A note from the email from Maddy to Mom.  Just a cool extra tidbit: ...I honestly don't know if I would have even come on a mission if I hadn't  gone to BYU, and wow, going on a mission really does change your life in undescribable ways...
