11.19.18: Remember When We Got Locked in a Park?

Image
Ok, ok--most important thing... a few months ago we got locked in a park with one of our amigos who we were teaching and had to jump the fence jajaja.  Anyway, the big news is that he GOT BAPTIZED YESTERDAY!! I AM SO HAPPY FOR HIM! I am overwhelmed with gratitude to witness the change that has taken place in his life. He is one of my favorite people here! 3 months ago when we talked to the sketchy hombre  [man]  with earrings and tattoos, and the stench of marijuana, I never dreamed he would be dressed in white one day and enter the waters of baptism. God is so good! Also this week, long story short, but I was on an intercambio  [exchange]  in a pueblo  [town]  and our piso  [apartment]  lock got jammed and after all of the neighbors tried different "tricks" to try to open the door, we ended up sleeping in the bishop's house in his pueblo...in our dresses, and giant spiders tambien  [also] ....jajaja.  Just classic t...

11.12.18: GOOD times in BADalona

Life is so good in Espana! I cannot believe how blessed I am to live here! This week was a whirlwind.... I had my last zone conference ever...! We always learn a lot of good things, but it's exhausting to be sitting for so long. You would think I would get used to it as a missionary but ....not so much! But it's always fun to see my pals from other parts of the mission.  Also, I got to see a bunch of my comps and other hermanas from my mtc group because the day after zone conference we had a meeting with an Area 70 (church leader) that came to talk to us.  I adore them all. <3   Also, I had to give my going home testimony,  which isn't even fair because I still have a month worth of things to learn. Not sure if any of what I said made sense because it's impossible to express everything that I feel. So many emotions all at once...I was a mess (but what's new?!). Yesterday, we got another good dose of (zero) talent show....  Our church is i...

11.5.18: Loco for the Coco

Image
More good times in GREATalona (my area is actually called Badalona...but Greatalona is better)! But anyway, it just keeps getting colder.  Which is not so great, but what can ya do? I guess we have to endure the cold to appreciate the sunnnnn! But also, I promised myself I will never wear tights again after the mish because they are not my favorite. ;)  Highlights of this week-- Our ward had a Halloween party and spent years decorating it to be like the movie "Coco" which, like, the whole world has seen, including all the other missionaries except me, jajaja.  But anyway, the fiesta was a good time with a high quality (zero) talent show. You will all be glad to know that my comp and I were part of a painful young womens skit about family history (where the only person actually into it was the leader, jajaja. Classic.)   And also, all the missionaries did a nice opening act singing  Called to Serve  and awkwardly dancing in f...

10.29.18: Badalona ---> GREATalona

Image
Yikes...they are already starting to put up the Christmas lights in the streets here.  What is going on? Perdon,...Halloween hasn't even passed yet!!  [Maddy sent this on Oct. 29th when it really was pre-Halloween. Oops.]  Also it's starting to get cold again....ayyyyyy, pray for me!  But other than the cold, I adore Badalona! We live super close to the ocean and we get to run by the beach in the morning and watch the sunrise! Also my comp is an angel...she is such a good example to me of selfless service. I keep waiting for her to get tired of being so nice to everyone, but she doesn't...she is the real deal! I have no doubts that God put me with her because I have a lot of things to learn from her example.  One of the miracles of this week is a single dad that we have been meeting with.  He has a super hard life and has made some wrong decisions, but a few weeks ago when everything in his life was falling apart, he remembered that he...
