11.5.18: Loco for the Coco
More good times in GREATalona (my area is actually called Badalona...but Greatalona is better)! But anyway, it just keeps getting colder. Which is not so great, but what can ya do? I guess we have to endure the cold to appreciate the sunnnnn! But also, I promised myself I will never wear tights again after the mish because they are not my favorite. ;)
Highlights of this week--
Our ward had a Halloween party and spent years decorating it to be like the movie "Coco" which, like, the whole world has seen, including all the other missionaries except me, jajaja. But anyway, the fiesta was a good time with a high quality (zero) talent show. You will all be glad to know that my comp and I were part of a painful young womens skit about family history (where the only person actually into it was the leader, jajaja. Classic.) And also, all the missionaries did a nice opening act singing Called to Serve and awkwardly dancing in front of everyone. But the highlight of the night was an older women who sang the Titanic song, complete with hand motions and sways, jajaja. Life is so BEAUTIFUL! <3
Also, my comp and I bought castañas [chestnuts] for the first time because apparently that is the tradition here on the first of November. They have vacation on the 1 of Nov because it is "Dia de Todos Los Santos" [All Saints Day] and then the day after is also festivo [holiday] because...I guess if you have 1 day of vacations, it might as well be 2...the Spaniards understand how to live. ;)
Also, the dad that brought his kids to church last week has been progressing so much! He has such sincere desires to change his life and is luchar-ing [excellent Spanglish of Maddy's translated "fighting"]! Yesterday, he sent us a selfie of him and his daughter reading the Book of Mormon!! Yasssss.
Also on Saturdays we play futbol [soccer] with our Latino friends jajaja. More like they play futbol and us gringas [White girls] are just in the way...but they are nice enough to let us play.
Words of wisdom from the relief society president yesterday...
" cuidado...si tires la toalla, no tendrás con que sacarte."
^^ Amen! Jajaja! It means, "Be careful....if you throw in the towel, you won't have anything to dry yourself with."
Anyway, I adore you all!
Stay GOLD
<3 maddy
