2.26.18: SanSe has my heart (well, at least the part I didn't leave in Pamplona)

Image
Ok, wow! San Sebastian is such a dreammmmm! I still cannot believe I live here! It is always a little weird adjusting to a new area after pouring your heart and soul into your old area. But all in all, I love it here and am excited to get to know all of the beautiful people here! We live right in the center of the town, right next to a big cathedral.  And I'm pretty sure our piso is older than the United States, jajaja.  I don't have a lot of time to write, but today for preparation day we went to a lookout over all of San Sebastian, and it was so gorgeous. We went with the elders here and their investigator from Brazil who happens to be a professional violinist AND a closet trapeze artist (What?! Ya I know....  The people I meet on the mission are the best, jajajajaja).  I have been reading the New Testament lately and have been learning so much about the teachings and life of the apostle Paul. The other day I read this verse in 2 Corinthians...

2.20.18: MY HEART IS BROKEN πŸ’”

Image
Wow, well ok...I feel like the bad guy in Harry Potter who breaks up his heart and leaves it in different places around the world (or something along those lines...I don't really know...) because I am literally leaving a trocito de my corazΓ³n  [piece of my heart]  here in Pamplona.  On Sat,  we got transfer calls and I was 100% expecting to stay here, but broma  [joke's]  on me, because I am being transferred. :/  These last two days have been a locura  [madness]  of saying goodbye to all of the people that I have grown to love here in Pamplona paraiso [paradise] !  I am pretty sure the theme of all the things I have learned here is that people really do change. The power of Christ's atonement really is enough to heal every wound and relieve the aching soul. He has already done the suffering and is there waiting for us to come unto Him so that He can relieve us. Thanks to His anguishing sufferings, we do not have to suffer a...

2.12.18: Belly Dancing

Image
Wow wow wow! So many good times this week! One of the highlights was the Relief Society activity  on  Friday night... Manuela and her daughter came and they put on quite the show, jajajaja. The activity was that everyone was supposed to bring an object that represented them/ a hobby that they have. We sat in a circle and took turns presenting the thing we brought.  People really never grow out of their love for talking about themselves. When it came time for Manuela to present, she first stands up and proceeds to show the entire room the dolphin tattoo that she has (which happens to be on her low low back, jajaja). Then she pulls out a belly dancing skirt and starts performing for us all, and goes on and on about how great belly dancing is because "you really get to know your body".  Wow, I was DYING!! The faces of the other homely sisters there were priceless!  I think it's good for them to have a little more variety! Jajajaja, I LOVE THE MISSION...

2.5.18: The Miracle of Yesterday

Image
Hello All,  This is Amy, just clarifying that I missed sending last week's email, and so I sent it earlier this week.  This email is the current one for this week. You probably aren't keeping track, but just in case you were, this would explain why there are 2 this week from Hermana Maddy. Sending you our love, amy This year, one of my goals is to recognize and write down a miracle every day. God is so good to us and blesses us so much every single day, whether we know it or not! I am still in shock at the miracle of yesterday! Manuela (the investigator that I talked about last week) and her daughter came to church and stayed the entire time (well ok, minus a quick smoke break--working on that one!)! They loved it and are now planning to come to the Relief Society activity  on  Saturday and are excited to come again  next  Sunday. I am amazed, de verdad  [for real]  I am sin palabras [without words or speechless] . After church she...

1.29.18: Bailandooooo

Wow wow wow! What a blessing it is to be here in Pamplona. I am so grateful to the Lord for blessing me with the opportunity to serve all of the beautiful people here. It is amazing the love you can feel for the people that you are called to serve! My heart is so full! We were blessed with many miracles this week, but one of the biggest was Manuela. We met Manuela a few weeks ago knocking doors. We had a second visit with her about two weeks ago and she did not seem very interested and was not even sure if she believed in God. We ended up leaving her with a folleto [pamphlet]  because we had just given out our last Book of Mormon. This week we had another visit with her and she told us that  she actually read the folleto and followed the instructions to pray at the end ! I was shocked! Never before in my mission has someone actually read the whole folleto and prayed! She said that she had an unexplainable peace that came over her and the next day she couldn't stop thinkin...
