11.19.18: Remember When We Got Locked in a Park?
Ok, ok--most important thing... a few months ago we got locked in a park with one of our amigos who we were teaching and had to jump the fence jajaja. Anyway, the big news is that he GOT BAPTIZED YESTERDAY!! I AM SO HAPPY FOR HIM! I am overwhelmed with gratitude to witness the change that has taken place in his life. He is one of my favorite people here! 3 months ago when we talked to the sketchy hombre [man] with earrings and tattoos, and the stench of marijuana, I never dreamed he would be dressed in white one day and enter the waters of baptism. God is so good!
Also this week, long story short, but I was on an intercambio [exchange] in a pueblo [town] and our piso [apartment] lock got jammed and after all of the neighbors tried different "tricks" to try to open the door, we ended up sleeping in the bishop's house in his pueblo...in our dresses, and giant spiders tambien [also]....jajaja. Just classic times. I wore the same clothes for a straight 36 hours and had no toothbrush, jajaja.
Also, when I was in the train on the way to the intercambio (alone for like 20 mins, which is weird in the first place...) one of the beggar women came up to me trying to sell something and had very obviously stuffed a pillow in her shirt to appear pregnant, jajaja. I shared some almonds with her to award her creative efforts.
Also, more crazy rain storms. The streets were like a river one day and we were soaked and every car that passed us was a legit wave of water...surfs up! Jajaja, it was the closest I will get to swimming on the mish, so i lived it up! Also, the next day it was just sprinkling, but I slipped and ate it super hard right in a big commercial area and made quite the scene jajaja. More classic, good times...always giving the people something to stare at!
The gold of this week is that the single dad that has been working to change his life got baptized and confirmed this week!! I am so happy for him. God is so merciful to all those with a willing heart and is waiting and willing to forgive all those who come unto Him. God is so good to us.
Love you all!
