First week's email (6.15.17):

Holaaaa familia!

I am a missionary? Wut? We got our name tags yesterday, so i guess it's official. I feel like I am at EFY, except "flirting" is strictly prohibited jajajaja. I think the flight here was the longest I have ever sat still in my entire vida.
The sun doesn't go down until 10:30 at night and it is 9 hrs ahead of CA time so the jet lag is kind of gnarly, perro esta bien!!

The mtc is pretty cool. It is literally 10 ft away from the temple and there are only about 50 missionaries here at a time. Everyday they give us time for "sports" where we walk to a concrete stadium and play futbol in the blazing 100 degree weather. On p days we get to go sight seeing which will be cool, and this Saturday will be our first go in the parque where we will try to habla with people about the Book of Mormon.

Half of the things that I have learned the last few days have gone right over my head, but hopefully I will get better at paying attention (pray for me!!!)

One thing that I do remember learning is about being obedient. On a mission there are tons of rules, which is not my favorite, but on the first day the mission pres told us that we aren't obedient because we enjoy it- We need to be obedient because it is the only thing that God wants from us. He has given us EVERYTHING, and we have NOTHING that He wants, except our obedience. So basically we all need to be more obedient... still workin on that one!!

Oh ya and my companera is Hermana Forsyth. She is more of the band type, haha, but I love her anyway. This world needs all kinds...

Stay gold everyone,
Hermana B

Ps- hopefully I will have pics next week if I can figure out how to use this tablet...!!

Second week's email (6.22.17):

HOLALALALA!

Wow wow wow wow. I do not even know how to put into words what I have done this past week. I have learned so much! My comp and I have already started teaching our first ¨investigator¨ in Espanol!! Ummm wait I don´t actually speak Spanish yet, but we teach in Spanish anyway- learn by experience I guess!

It is rough to sit for so long everyday, I am not used to this lifestyle, but hopefully I will adjust! Every other day the hermanas are allowed to go to the gym, and I run on the treadmill the entire time because I am so happy just to be doing something! My poor comp has to remind me to shut up and focus a lot, haha, Bless her.

Today we rode the bus to a big shopping center in the middle of Madrid. It was cool to see the city, and get out of the MTC(!!!) for a little bit. On the way back the bus broke down, so we all had to get off. It was quite a sight... a bunch of Mormon missionaries getting off a public bus in the middle of an intersection and walking through the middle of the road, we may have created some traffic--whoops! Lo siento people of Madrid....

The temple re-opens next week, I can´t wait to go inside! I can literally see it from my bed, it is GORGEOUS!!

Also, kind of a big deal... I am part of my first (and probs last) choir! I am an alto... or soprano... I don't really know, but all of the missionaries have to attend mandatory choir practice twice a week, haha, Defs a first for me!!

I adore this country already! Every single one of the teachers is adorable, and I can't wait to learn more about the rich culture that they have here!!

The language is defs a struggle. Whenever they want to shut me up they make us speak solamente Espanol, jajajaja. I am doing my best though. Everyone laughs at my accent. They call me Hermana California, hahaha.

I love you all!!

Paz y bendiciones!!!
