7.16.18: Queued!
*This is the email that never got sent to the group--that Maddy refers to in her next email. I typed it up so we would have this great story of Fernando and Valeria and that "someone" who gave Fernando assurance that he should get baptized in answer to his prayer. :)

Life is just so much better in the summer--the food, the clothes, the air and people are just all around happier. I am soaking up the Valencia heat, and I LOVE it, for reals. Wow, this city is incredible! It has a charm that I cannot even describe! Every time we get on the bus or the metro everyone is wearing their swimsuit because they are on their way to the beach or piscina [pool]...la vida buenaaaaaa! [The good life!]
This week has been crazy. My companion and I went to Barcelona for two nights because we had a meeting. And we got to see a bunch of our old mission pals, which was a blast. ;) I <3 Barcelona!
But the highlight of this week is two adorable kids we have been teaching. They live in a shared piso [apartment] with like 600 other family members, one of whom is a member who brings them to church. Their mom is not a member, but she has been in every lesson that we have taught them. She just has a general lack of desire to do anything at all. (That is a nice way of saying that she is lazyyyyyyy.) They have a baptism date for this coming Saturday and we are so excited for them! Last Saturday, one of them called us (his name is Fernando), and told us he didn't want to get baptized because he doesn't feel ready and wants to wait until he is older. My comp and I were very disappointed because we know how much this will bless him and give him a guide throughout this crazy life. We started fasting and praying immediately, but, al final [ultimately], we have to accept the Lord's timing and the agency of others. However, the next day, Fernando, his sister Valeria, AND their mom came to church!!! And the baptism is back on! Fernando told us that after he got off the phone with us, he prayed. And "someone" told him that everything would work out and that he should take the leap and get baptized! MIRACLES HAPPEN! God is so real!
"Be humble, be prayerful. And the Lord will take you by the hand, as it were, and give you answer to your prayers." (idk who said that. ...I think Joseph Smith?)
Well, I adore you all! Keep living the dream and stay GOLD. <3
